Every quilt has a story or a special memory! My mother grew up on a farm, they sewed many of their dresses from feed sacks and the leftover scraps were pieced into quilts. My favorite quilt memories were the bedtime stories. My mother would choose a fabric piece in the quilt and tell a story about it. She would reminisce about a special occasion where they wore the dress, talk about the design of the dress, and who in family it belonged to. Other times she shared stories about the farm life such as using the mule and a pulley system to move hay bales into the barn. In the picture, “Jenny” the mule is being navigated by my mother while her sister is in charge of the rope.
In celebrating “National Quilt Month,” we invite you to share your special quilt memory with us!
